Surveillance Design, not Surveillance Equipment!

Surveillance Design is the key to a successfull surveillance project. Recently we were working with a large library system in Indiana and helping them lower an increased theft problem they were experiencing. After visiting with the customer we realized that most of their customers did not even realize that the facility had a small surveillance system in place. Knowing that the library did not have a large budget we encouraged them to add a monitor and a camera focusing on the front entry way. Now when someone walks through the front door, the TV grabs their attention and when they look up we have captured a crisp picture of the customer along wtih notifing them that the facility has a surveillance system in place.

Since implementing this strategy the library system has noticed a 45% decrease in theft! Again it is more about design and not only the surveillance equipment you use. Good luck on designing your surveillance system.
